I had time off work in June but was not able to get away due to multiple issues beyond my control. I definitely went back to work more relaxed and happier than I was before, but I really needed time away from everything and everyone. Living in the city means you are always around people, and even when I am shut up alone in my room I still feel like I am surrounded.
Anyway, when I got a chance to go to our office in Stow, MA for a week I pretty much jumped with joy. In the middle of nowhere with a great team of software developers I love working with?!?best "business" trip ever!
It's beautiful here... And reminds me a lot of Rutland in England, where I lived for the first few years of my life, and where I spent so many teenage summer working at The White Horse pub and walking around the countryside.
Alone time is doing me the world of good.
